24 union leaders write in support of the cross-party Climate and Nature Bill

REAL change for climate and nature - take action | Zero Hour

On May 3rd, UK union leaders delivered Keir Starmer an urgent letter at 10 Downing Street.

The Social Workers Union (SWU) is proud to stand with 23 other union leaders — representing over 1 million workers — in support of the cross-party Climate and Nature (CAN) Bill. In a letter to the Prime Minister and Secretaries of State we are calling for an update on the CAN Bill and urging the Government to deliver the green jobs our future depends on.

The Climate and Nature Bill would protect and safeguard nature — while creating thousands of jobs — which will bring social and economic justice to communities across the county, as well as protecting us from climate change.

The letter highlights the critical intersection of environmental and economic justice, a cause which resonates deeply with our members. It calls for a just transition that prioritises workers — ensuring secure, unionised jobs — as well as reskilling programmes and protection for industrial communities as we shift to a greener economy.
