Agenda for the Day
Start of event and welcome from John McGowan, SWU General Secretary and Carol Reid, SWU Union Contact Manager & National Organiser.
Presentation from Professor Neil Thompson entitled “How to Survive in Social Work”. As social workers you may already know Neil as his books are upon all our shelves! He is a strong advocate for trade unionism and an Ambassador of the Social Workers Union.
Presentation from Simon Francis, Director of Campaign Collective, entitled “Campaigning and Activism Skills for Social Workers”. Simon works closely in collaboration with SWU and provides advice and support to social workers and students initiating campaigns through our Campaign Fund.
Carol & John will answer any questions about the SWU Union Contact role, the Phase 2 (advanced) role, campaigning, and becoming more involved in SWU generally.
Attendees will receive a full-day CPD Certificate and a newly published copy of the 2nd edition of How to Survive in Social Work by Neil Thompson & John McGowan.
